The Kraken

CHAPTER 1: OLLY

The square rigged ship creaked and swayed with the waves as the storm brewed. On the front tip of the ship, a monstrous wood sculpture of the infamously feared sea beast bobbed up and down with the waves. “Oi! Steady da spar! Batten down da hatches! A storms a’ brewin’ mateys!” The captain said sternly.

“What’re ye doin’ sittin’ down? All hands n’ deck!” She lifted up her eye patch to analyze the grey cloudy sky more clearly. “Cap’n The storms almost over.” A tall man with a, obnoxiously big scar on his face said, steadying the sails ropes. “Aye. Almost visited ol’ Davy Jones.”

She was sitting down studying her father’s map he gave to her before he passed when all of a sudden she heard “Allo?” A voice said coming from behind me looking around the room. “aye. What’s it?” she responded. “Some one’s taken ye daddy’s necklace cap’n ” Scarface said. *BAM.* her arms slammed down on the wood table making the beer shake. “OLLY.”

“Ay Jeb, Where’s ye darn parrot at.” she asked the ship’s chef. “No Idea Gracey.” Jeb said staggering towards her. “ it’s grace.” She said giving him a harsh look and hovering her hand over her cutlass. That made him back off.

Everyone was scared of Grace just because her dad, the last ships captain, tortured them.  “Right then. Me saw ‘em in the forecastle last.” The chef replied as I nodded my head.

She walked out of the kitchen and into the forecastle of the Kraken searching for that darn parrot. “Olly, wanna cracker?” Grace yelled around the wooden room full of clutter. The parrot usually responded with something along the lines of ‘Aye dah’ling give it ‘ere’ and would come flying out to get the cracker.

Olly was no where to be in sight.

She ran upstairs to the main deck and blew her whistle on her necklace to find someone who could look for her dad’s necklace.

“Listen up pirates, one of ye took my daddy’s necklace. And ye know ‘ow much dat means to me ye scumbags. I’ll ‘ave everyone scrub da seagull poop off da deck all day in da sun If one of ye don’t fess up. “ Grace yelled at the men down below on the main deck staring up at her.

“Found Olly, Grace.” Scarface said looking down at the deck. “well move den. Olly collects shiny t’ings like me necklace” She said swatting her hands making a gesture. Once the crew finally got out of the way, she made her way down to the deck looking at the parrot dead on the deck.

“OLLY!” Jeb screamed in tears, pushing past everyone to make his way up to the front. He bent down and pulling the bloody parrot in his arms. “Oh olly, what happened to you…”

Someone had killed the parrot.

Grace needed the necklace because it was the final piece to figuring out her dad’s map to Kraken island. “John! Step far-ward.” The ships captain said  A tall sturdy boy, about 12 years, with dirty clothes stepped forward . “I want ye to find me necklace.” Grace said to the boy

“What?… Why me?” He said with an heavy English accent. “Cause’ yer smart. Unlike us, boy.” Grace replied and spat overboard.

CHAPTER 2: JOHN

Grace was sitting so beautifully glancing over her fathers map like she always did every second she got. I still couldn’t believe she chose me out of all the crew to find her necklace for her. She must think I’m so smart and amazing. “I don’t think if I can find your necklace in a day Capt’n… It’s  a big ship.” I said pacing around the room.

“Don’t think, do.” Grace said to me swatting her hands out the door. “What do you need the necklace for anyway?” I asked, genuinely curious, turning around from the doorway. “Ay, If I tell you boy, ye prah-mise not to tell anyone roight?” She said getting up. I walked towards the table with the map and papers with writing scattered all over the table. She pointed her finger at a certain paper with a neat drawing of a beautiful flourishing island with a gold empire in the middle of the island. “What?…” I questioned, no exactly understanding what she was showing me.

“You want dis?” Grace asked me looking at the drawing. Of course I wanted it. It’s a golden empire. “I guess…” I replied. “I need me necklace to find dis island, unduhstand?” “Yes capt’n.” I said. “Call me Grace.” She replied.

I had to find Grace’s necklace.
