When I awoke on an island, my head was spinning. I didn’t remember anything before I arrived on the island. I felt a warm breeze of tropical air. I stood up, brushing sand and rocks off of me. I felt a pang of hunger. I looked to the right, seeking a brown, circular fruit on the ground. It was half open, and was missing most of its copra, the meat inside. “Yum! A coconut!” I thought to myself. Without thinking, I drank the juice out of it and scrapped out the copra with a flat seashell. It felt like I haven’t eaten in a week! A few seconds later, my stomach started to hurt. My head started to spin again. I felt dizzy and scared. Before I knew it, I passed out. I woke up again, but this time, with someone at my side crushing leaves in a stone bowl. The person had dark, golden skin. She looked like she was only a little older than me. I’m only 13 years old. She also had freckles darker than her skin, along with black, long, wavy hair. She seemed harmless. I attempted to get up from the blanket made of tree bark, but I was too weak. She said “Here. Drink this medicine.” and so I did. It tasted of pineapple, Passion flower, and Ashwagandha. There were many more plants I didn’t recognize. While I was talking to the girl, I found that her name was Kailano. The meaning of her name was “Sea”. I said ” Where am I?” “Aitutaki” Was her answer. “Why am I here?” I asked. she said “I’m not sure, I think your flying technology crashed and left you stranded. That’s what happens to most Caucasian people we meet around here. You see, we don’t meet many other people since our island is so remote.” “Uhh, well first of all, it’s called an ‘Airplane’. “An ‘Airplane’? ” “yes, the flying technology?” “Ohhh…” we had a conversation about how different our islands were. I found Ireland and Aitutaki were very different. “Come. Now that you’re some-what better, I think I should show you around the island and you can meet some other people!”

Minutes later, I felt like a little kid again, running around the village meeting the whole entire island. The other people living there seemed happy to see me. ” This is my favorite part of the island!” Kailano grabbed my hand and lead me to the beach. She mad a hand gesture for me to sit down in the sand with her. I sat down next to her. The warm breeze upon my sholder, the papaya and Guava scent in the air. I sighed heavily of delight. This remined me of Vacations in Hawaii with my family. I loved this island so much. I then dosed off, and woke up to even more delicious fruit smells. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Kailano holding a big platter of food that included shrimp and avacado Salad, and tropical fruit sundaes. “While you were sleeping, I made a meal for us!” Kailano said. “this is delicious!” Flavors of Guava Passionfruit bananas and pineapples filled my mouth. “Thank you so much!”

I lived on the island for about a month now, and I started to miss my family back at Ireland I wonder if they’re doing all right. They must be worried sick about me! Good thing they weren’t on the plane with me. I wonder what would happen if I actually made it to Hawaii with my grandparents …
